Because the publishers planned to continue the Mondstation 1999 series of books past The Edge of the Infinte with a string of original stories, the possibility of the Alphans settling on the Immunity Syndrome planet had to be eliminated.

Fight for the Future The impossible happens! The Alphans recieve a message from Earth! 21st Century mankind has succeeded in striking upon a matter transmitter as a bridge to the missing people. The transmitter connection permits the return to Earth, but it can only be maintained for a few hours.
